「Extremely Personal Words」 Daily Memo Series Vol. 1, Independent Publication, 2019
These notes were compiled from entries written between January and April 2019.
「Street Trees」
Among the fallen leaves, there were branches growing increasingly bare. I could see fallen leaves, soaked by days of rain and stuck to the ground. I come to know the season by looking at trees. And in doing so, I begin to sense where I am within the long year. (p. 3)
「One Evening I」
A conversation overheard by chance. The unspoken worry of someone seated at the next table. A changing season in which each person feels the cold differently. Things that resurface just when they seem to have been forgotten. (p. 10)
「Cold Wave」
If I think that the emptiness and distress I feel now will pass, life feels manageable in its own way. After experiencing intense pain once, I find myself less shaken by the smaller pains that follow. I do not know how much stronger the pain that may strike me in the future will be. I am not sure whether I should take it as a relief that I can become numb to small pains. Are there also pains or forms of suffering that never dull? Only time will tell. (p. 15)
「March」
The first day of March began with the misfortune of losing half of the manuscript I was writing. I sat in a chair, eating cold pizza and drinking flat cola. I eat and drink whatever is available. I live with what is given to me. I do not know why, but for a moment, it feels difficult to live with all my strength. (p. 31)
「Every Day」
Some things will get better, and some things will only deepen over time. (p. 55)
